With San Francisco behind him, Mase Jones practices with a basketball at Robert Crown Memorial Beach in Alameda, California, U.S., on Friday June 9, 2006. "Just trying to get to the pros one day," Jones said. This man, set against the backdrop of his city, reaches for his dreams one shot at a time. The layered composition speaks to how a place can influence a person, and how community can embed a love of basketball in the hearts and minds of its residents.
