Mountain Ballers
Catégorie : BASKETBALL IS EVERYWHERE
This photo was taken last April 21, 2016 in one of the mountains in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro in the Philippines. Under the heat of the sun, on a cemented but rough floor surface, shoeless and gearless, youths of Mangyan Tribe enjoy playing their most beloved sports--basketball. Mangyan Tribe is one of the eight indigenous groups found in the island of Mindoro. On that day, they were playing their annual Inter-color Sports Festival, where teams will be indicated by the color of their headband (blue vs. white). They played their hearts out each time they make a basket or make a defensive stop, running up and down the court tirelessly-- all of that even if they don't have the proper basketball attire. And unlike others who have the privilege to play this game in an indoor arena, these Mangyans are battling it all out at the great outdoors. Yes, because basketball is everywhere. But most importantly, it is for everyone.
