This picture was taken in the Philippines on 26 October 2016, in the city of Taguig, in the southeast of Manilla. I had traveled to the Philippines to make a photo report around street basketball for my website United Ballers. I was taking some pictures of the stunning playground of the Tenement building, a playground that the community of 70 families living there are so proud of. The youngest of the playing children attempted shooting. The ball seemed very heavy in his arms and so far away from the basket. He attempted a first shot. It didn’t touch the rim. We gave the ball back to him, encouraging him to focus even harder, and assuring him that he would succeed. He pushed harder on his legs, stronger in his mind. I don't remember whether he scored. Because at this moment, the most important thing for us was elsewhere: the ball had touched the rim, and his smile was worth all the baskets of the world...
